About the Institute
The Chögyam Trungpa Institute, based at Naropa University, serves a diverse worldwide community of those inspired by the work of Chögyam Trungpa, by the practice of meditation, and by the Buddhist tradition and teachings, historically and in contemporary times.
Mission Statement
The Chogyam Trungpa Institute was founded at Naropa University in 2017 to make the teachings of Chögyam Trungpa widely available in order to foster wisdom and compassion. We facilitate the study, understanding, and application of these teachings through expanded access, training, and education.
Distributing the Knowledge
The Institute will make Chogyam Trungpa’s body of teachings widely available. The Institute seeks to provide robust online access through the development of the CTR Digital Library, a digital repository for Chogyam Trungpa’s extensive audio, video, and visual archive.
Sharing the Teachings
New Avenues
The Institute, in keeping with Trungpa Rinpoche’s innovative way of bringing the traditional dharma (teachings) alive in contemporary times, also supports new directions that honor the spirit of his work, through expositions, exhibitions, classes, research, debate, and other means, and encourages a critical assessment by scholars and practitioners of his work and his place in the development of Buddhism in the West.
