Bodhisattvas are fulfilling needs everywhere. The bodhisattvas identify with the people who need help, not with themselves. That is the whole point. If you are helping others to make yourself feel good–“I want to help people because I want to see those people happy”–that is just entertaining yourself. Instead, you help others because help is needed.
